Two Paths to Becoming a Successful Healer
There are two paths which must be followed when pursuing a career in the healing arts. The first path is "healing to heal". The second is "healing to serve". When you are on the "healing to heal" path you're working on healing yourself. Your intent is first and foremost to bring yourself into alignment with wholeness, health and wellbeing. People who are attracted to learning the healing arts often recognize this desire and will usually start (either consciously or unconsciously) by learning the skills which will help them most with their personal healing journey. The "healing to serve" path is often born out of the "healing to heal" path. Once you have begun your own healing work it's natural to feel compelled to give back to others.
It's perfectly fine to work on self healing alone without pursuing a healing career to serve others. But when you decide to "heal to serve" as a career, it's necessary to first "heal to heal". You can only take your clients as far as you have been. They are coming to you to find their own wholeness, health and wellbeing. They are on their own "healing to heal" path, and if you haven't travelled there you won't be able to guide them very far. The key to being a powerful healer is gaining the inner power from your own self healing. Here are a few guidelines to help you use these two paths to empower your healing career:
1. Start "healing to heal" before "healing to serve".
2. Continue to work on self healing throughout your healing career.
3. When deciding what to study choose the modalities and techniques which bring you the most wholeness, health and wellbeing.
4. Let your healing career be a reflection of your personal journey in the healing arts.
The path you forge through your own personal work will be the path that others follow. Service from this authentic place will powerfully attract to you those who will most benefit from your healing work.
